Sprouts Science (A La Carte Option)

Overview:

In this Montessori-based Earth Science class, children will explore the natural world through hands-on discovery, sensory experiences, and child-led learning. From rocks and soil to weather, plants, and animals, students will investigate Earth’s wonders using real materials, observation, and open-ended activities. Through nature walks, sorting and classifying objects, simple experiments, and storytelling, children will develop a deeper connection and understanding of this planet. This peaceful, curiosity-driven environment encourages independence, wonder, and a love for learning about our beautiful Earth.

In this class, kids will:

-make a worm world observing live worms in a clear container layered with soil and sand, watching the creatures mix materials

-set up nature tray work to examine real rocks, leaves, shells, soil, and seeds using magnifying glasses, sorting trays, and classification cards

-become a gardener by planting seeds and caring for them

-create plant and insect identification cards

*Families involved in this class will be asked to sign a code of conduct agreement so that they know there is an expectation to act responsibly during instruction at PPS.

Timeline

This class begins Sept. 1, 2025, and runs until Dec. 12, 2025. This class runs every Wednesday from 1130am-1220am with a class break (no school) the week of Thanksgiving for a total of 14 classes.

Price breakdown

One 50 Min. Class = $10 per student

(multiply x 14 weeks of instruction)

= $140 total for this class per 1 student for the 14-week semester
