Little Strings Beginning Music and Violin (A La Carte Option)

Overview:

In Little Strings, children will use motion and activity as they explore the world of music. As they develop new skills, they will learn the do-re-mis of solfege, practice tonal and rhythm patterns, and begin to read musical notation. They will also be introduced to the violin through Suzuki early learning techniques.

In this class, kids will:

  • Identify the parts of the violin and bow

  • Hold, carry, and care for the instrument properly

  • Develop correct posture and a beginning bow grip

  • Pluck open strings and produce beginning bowed sounds

  • Name the four violin strings

  • Recognize high and low sounds

  • Keep a steady beat and repeat simple rhythms

  • Understand fast, slow, loud, and soft

  • Follow musical directions and play simple patterns

  • Strengthen coordination, concentration, and confidence

*Families involved in this class will be asked to sign a code of conduct agreement so that they know there is an expectation to act responsibly during instruction at PPS.

Timeline

This class begins Aug. 31st, 2026, and runs until Dec. 7th, 2026. This class runs every Monday from 930am-1020am with class breaks (no school) the weeks of Sept. 7th and Nov. 23rd for a total of 13 classes.
