Overview:
Wonders of Weather offers young scientists a magical, sensory-filled introduction to the world of weather. Using the nature-inspired Harbor and Sprout curriculum, students will explore clouds, temperature, storms, wind, precipitation, and the layers of our atmosphere through hands-on activities, art, observation, and creative experiments.
Children will investigate how clouds form, learn about the exciting work of storm chasers, observe how heat moves, and discover how artists capture weather in their work. This class encourages curiosity, careful observation, and a deeper appreciation for the changing world outside.
Curriculum taught:
Harbor and Sprout Meteorology
Class expectations
Identify common weather conditions
Observe and describe daily weather patterns
Understand how clouds and precipitation form
Explore how temperature and heat move
Recognize basic cloud types
Learn about wind, storms, and severe weather
Identify the basic layers of the atmosphere
Use simple weather tools and record observations
Create weather-inspired art and science projects
Practice asking questions, making predictions, and sharing discoveries
Timeline
This class begins Aug. 31st, 2026, and runs until Dec. 7th, 2026. This class runs every Monday from 1030am-1120am with class breaks (no school) the weeks of Sept. 7th and Nov. 23rd for a total of 13 classes.
