The Payette Pod School 2-Day Track gives students the opportunity to attend two days of in-person learning each week.
Students will attend one age-based enrichment class on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, then return on Friday for a three-hour block of hands-on classes designed to build practical skills, creativity, confidence, and leadership.
This track combines the flexibility and academic support of virtual schooling with the connection, collaboration, and engaging experiences of an in-person learning community.
Each Friday, students will rotate through three hands-on classes:
Students will learn practical kitchen skills while preparing age-appropriate recipes in a full kitchen.
Elementary students will begin with foundational skills such as measuring ingredients, following recipes, kitchen safety, mixing, and beginner slicing techniques.
Middle school students will explore more science-based cooking concepts through recipes such as buttermilk syrup, observing how ingredients interact and create chemical reactions.
High school students will progress to more advanced culinary methods, including ultra-fine chopping, recipe adaptation, flavor development, and eventually creating original recipes of their own.
Students will explore engineering, problem-solving, and creative design through an official CrunchLabs class using hands-on build boxes developed by Mark Rober and the CrunchLabs team.
Each project will encourage students to experiment, build, test, troubleshoot, and improve their designs while learning important STEM concepts in an exciting and approachable way.
*Every student in the 2-day track must purchase a subscription to the official CrunchLabs crates. If you need assistance ordering those, we are happy to help! K-4th graders will purchase the “Creative Kit”, 5th-8th graders will purchase the “Build Box”, and 9th-12th graders will purchase the Hack Pack.
In Leadership Lab, students will develop entrepreneurial skills by building a small business from the ground up.
They will work through the process of creating a business idea, developing a product, identifying their audience, setting prices, designing their brand, and learning how to market what they have made.
The semester will culminate in the Payette Pod School Christmas Market this December, where students will have the opportunity to sell their products, interact with customers, and put their new business skills into action.
These classes begin Sept. 4th, 2026 and run until Dec. 11th, 2026 every Wednesday from 930am-12:20pm with a class break (no school) the week of Nov. 25th for a total of 14 classes. total of 14 classes.
