Overview:

Adulthood is coming up fast for these highschoolers which means real jobs, real bills, and real income are on the horizon! In this practical and empowering class, teens will learn the essential money skills every young adult needs—how to budget, save, spend wisely, and avoid common financial traps. From understanding paychecks and taxes to building a budget, comparing banks, creating a savings plan, and even exploring credit and investing basics, students will gain real-world knowledge they can use right away. Through hands-on projects, games, and real-life scenarios, this class helps teens become confident, money-smart decision-makers for life.

In this class, kids will cover:

-careers and income

-paychecks and deductions

-banking and money management

-savings and investing

-loans and credit basics

-housing, vehicles, and insurance budgeting

Curriculum taught:

Curated mixed with work from Denise Leigh

Class expectations

*Families involved in this class will be asked to sign a code of conduct agreement so that they know there is an expectation to act responsibly during instruction at PPS.

Timeline

This class begins Sept. 1, 2025, and runs until Dec. 12, 2025. This class runs every Thursday from 1130am-1220am with a class break (no school) the week of Thanksgiving for a total of 14 classes.

Price breakdown

One 50 Min. Class = $10 per student

(multiply x 14 weeks of instruction)

= $140 total for this class per 1 student for the 14-week semester
