Communications 101 (A La Carte Option)
*This listing is for students who are interested in attending the Communications 101 class only. If you have already enrolled your student in the Epic Day for 9th-12th Graders, then there is no need to purchase this option.
Overview:
Want to master the art of communication? This class is your launchpad! Designed for teens, Comms 101 covers all the basics of written, spoken, and digital communications. Through fun projects, group activities, and real-world practice, teens will dive into the world of professional communication—learning how to write with purpose, clarity, and creativity. From crafting a standout resume on Canva to creating eye-catching ads and press releases, students will explore the many ways writing powers the business world. They'll also try their hand at journalism—reporting stories with truth, structure, and style. Perfect for aspiring entrepreneurs, future professionals, or any teen who wants to level up their writing game for the real world.
In this class, kids will:
Harness their creativity in Canva to create ads and resumes
Try their hand at journalism in drafting local stories and conducting actual interviews
Map out PR releases like the pros

Class expectations
*By signing your student up for this class, you consent to allowing your child to use the internet and a laptop while in the classroom. Students will be monitored by a teacher during the entire instruction period. Families involved in this class must agree to a computers and internet use code of conduct agreement so that they know there is an expectation to act responsibly on the computers during instruction at PPS.
*Students in this class must bring their own laptop that will be put aside in a cubby until brought home that same day after school. If you need to borrow one, please make plans with PPS prior to the class start date.
Timeline
This class begins Sept. 1, 2025, and runs until Dec. 12, 2025. This class runs every Thursday from 930am-1020am with a class break (no school) the week of Thanksgiving for a total of 14 classes.
Price breakdown
One 50 Min. Class = $10 per student
(multiply x 14 weeks of instruction)
= $140 total for this class per 1 student for the 14-week semester
