


28 Principles of Liberty Philosophy (A La Carte Option)
*This listing is for students who are interested in attending the Herbology28 Principles of Liberty Philosophy class only. If you have already enrolled your student in the Epic Day for 9th-12th Graders, then there is no need to purchase this option.
Overview:
What made America’s founding so revolutionary—and so enduring? In this engaging and thought-provoking class, teens will explore the 28 Principles of Liberty based on W. Cleon Skousen’s The 5000 Year Leap. Through discussion, historical examples, and real-life connections, students will learn the ideas that helped shape the U.S. Constitution, promote individual freedom, and inspire generations. From personal responsibility and free enterprise to natural law and moral leadership, this course encourages critical thinking, respectful debate, and a deeper understanding of the freedoms we often take for granted. Perfect for future leaders, thinkers, and engaged citizens.
In this class, kids will:
-complete critical thinking activities where they compare founding principles with modern events and current systems
-dissect principles that are foundational to a free America such as Natural Law, The Role of Virtue, Limited Government, The Value of the Individual)
-read and reflect on excerpts from The 5000 Year Leap (presented in teen-friendly formats)
-engage in open discussion and Socratic-style questioning to explore how each principle applies today
-step into the shoes of historical figures in role-plays or mini-simulations to understand early American viewpoints
Curriculum taught:
Stars and Stripes History
Class expectations
*Families involved in this class will be asked to sign a code of conduct agreement so that they know there is an expectation to act responsibly during instruction at PPS.
Timeline
This class begins Sept. 1, 2025, and runs until Dec. 12, 2025. This class runs every Thursday from 1030am-1120am with a class break (no school) the week of Thanksgiving for a total of 14 classes.
Price breakdown
One 50 Min. Class = $10 per student
(multiply x 14 weeks of instruction)
= $140 total for this class per 1 student for the 14-week semester
