*This listing is for students who are interested in attending Mapmakers: Passport to the World class only. If you have already enrolled your student in the Epic Day for 2nd-5th Graders, then there is no need to purchase this option.
Overview:
Mapmakers: Passport to the World takes students on a hands-on journey through 13 fascinating countries. Students will explore unique landscapes, cultures, landmarks, animals, and natural wonders—from Iceland’s volcanoes and Norway’s fjords to Belize’s tropical barrier reefs.
Through mapping activities, travel journaling, creative projects, and geographic exploration, students will strengthen their understanding of the world while learning how maps help us locate, describe, and compare different places.
Skills to be learned:
Locate countries and continents on maps and globes
Identify oceans, landforms, borders, and major geographic features
Read basic map symbols, keys, scales, and compass directions
Draw and label simple maps
Compare the geography and cultures of different countries
Recognize how climate and landforms shape daily life
Record discoveries through mapping and travel journaling
Use observation to notice geographic patterns
Organize information about places and cultures
Build curiosity, global awareness, and appreciation for the world
Curriculum taught:

Class expectations
*Families involved in this class will be asked to sign a code of conduct agreement so that they know there is an expectation to act responsibly during instruction at PPS.
Timeline
This class begins Sept. 1st, 2026, and runs until Dec. 8th, 2026. This class runs every Tuesday from 1130am-1220pm with a class break (no school) the week of Nov. 23rd for a total of 14 classes.
