The Artful Workshop (A La Carte Option)

Overview:

The Artful Workshop gives students a welcoming space to learn, explore, and express themselves through hands-on arts and crafts. Each project will combine a short lesson with a creative activity inspired by seasonal themes, holidays, science, nature, history, and the world around them.

Students will be encouraged to use their imagination, make individual creative choices, and take pride in their work. Through painting, drawing, building, cutting, and other hands-on projects, children will develop confidence while discovering that art can be a meaningful way to learn and communicate.

Skills Learned:

  • Express their ideas, interests, and individuality through art

  • Use observation to notice colors, shapes, patterns, and details

  • Follow multi-step directions to complete creative projects

  • Strengthen fine-motor skills and hand-eye coordination

  • Safely use a variety of art tools and materials

  • Apply creativity and problem-solving to open-ended projects

  • Connect art activities to seasons, holidays, science, and history

  • Experiment with color, texture, form, and design

  • Share materials and work respectfully with classmates

  • Build confidence by making and discussing their own artwork

*Families involved in this class will be asked to sign a code of conduct agreement so that they know there is an expectation to act responsibly during instruction at PPS.

Timeline

This class begins Sept. 1st, 2026, and runs until Dec. 8th, 2026. This class runs every Tuesday from 1030am-1120am with a class break (no school) the week of Nov. 23rd for a total of 14 classes.
